Pan Caribbean Financial Services today presented equipment valued at over twelve million dollars to the Victoria Jubilee Hospital’s Neo Natal Unit - acquired from the proceeds of Sigma Corporate Run 2011.
The Hospital now boasts critical biomedical equipment including those used for respiratory care, including a Bubble C-Pap machine used to help promote breathing in premature newborns, incubators, radiant warmers head boxes for oxygen therapy and for space optimization.
The Victoria Jubilee Hospital serves more than 70,000 patients annually and currently records an average of 8,000 deliveries each year. Approximately one in four babies born at the hospital are admitted to the Neo Natal Care Unit, with the major reasons for admission being prematurity, respiratory problems, infection and neo natal jaundice.
Donovan Perkins, President and CEO of Pan Caribbean Financial Services in his presentation reiterated the Company’s commitment to providing assistance to organisations that provide care for children. “I am sure all caregivers, Doctors and Nurses, from the Neo Natal Care Unit at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital can attest to the fact that this equipment will further help you to care for newborns at this institution. We are happy to have been a part of this life changing process,” he said.
In expressing appreciation to PanCaribbean Mr. Lyttleton Shirley, Board Chairman of the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) lauded the PanCaribbean team. “PanCaribbean has a vested interest in health care and a sound understanding and appreciation for the work we do to provide medical treatment and care to the people of Jamaica. Their support is breaking the mould and moving beyond corporate social responsibility to social innovation. PanCaribbean is among a list of elite companies that are the vanguard of a new paradigm,” he explained.
