Minister of National Security, Hon. Peter Bunting, has expressed condemnation and regret at the killing of a second member of the security forces within one week.
Special Constable Duan Peart was shot and killed along Grange Lane in Portmore, St. Catherine last night while attempting to assist motorists who appeared to be in distress.
Commenting on the death of the special constable, Minister Bunting said, “This incident demonstrates the callous and merciless nature of these criminals who continued their robbery spree, even after committing this vicious act."
He said the Ministry of National Security and the Police High Command will continue to intensify efforts to ensure that criminals are caught and brought to justice.
The Minister extended sincere condolences to the relatives, friends and colleagues of Constable Peart, and is urging anyone with information that can assist with the police investigation to contact the nearest police station or call 811 or Crime Stop at 311.
