Minister of National Security, Hon. Peter Bunting has condemned the killing of Corporal Alphanso Gossop of the Protective Services Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
Corporal Gossop served as Close Protection Officer to the Shearer family for a total of 30 years, first to former Prime Minister, the late Hugh Lawson Shearer, and later to his widow, Dr. Denise Eldemire-Shearer.
Minister Bunting said yesterday’s killing of the policeman serves as a stark reminder that criminals are continuing their efforts to reclaim lost ground in the fight against crime.
He however, assured the public that the security forces will be relentless in their fight against criminal elements. Minister Bunting also called on law enforcement personnel to constantly maintain their guard to defend against threats to their lives.
The Minister extended condolences to the Corporal’s family and colleagues.
