The JPS Foundation earlier today (Thursday, September 19, 2013), handed over a cheque valued at $300,000 to the Holy Trinity Comprehensive High School.  This represents the JPS Foundation’s contribution, as it partners with the Kiwanis Club of Eastern St. Andrew to refurbish the school’s Science Laboratory.

The Science Lab when refurbished will be the only lab available to the 1,500 students of the Holy Trinity Comprehensive High School and will play a critical role in the students’ academic performance in the sciences.

President and CEO of JPS, Kelly Tomblin, is excited about the contribution that is being made by the JPS Foundation.  She said, “The Foundation was recently launched with a focus on education and youth development and this particular partnership with the Kiwanis Club is a launching pad in the right direction.  It reiterates our commitment to our young people and to education and we hope the refurbished Science Lab will boost the students’ interest in the sciences. I am very proud of our participation in this venture.”

The Kiwanis Club of Eastern St. Andrew, which has identified the refurbishing of the Science Lab as its major project for 2013, is grateful for the partnership from the JPS Foundation.  President, Saundra Bailey, said that the Kiwanis Club has found the partnership with the school to be (…an extraordinarily rewarding experience.”  She added, “We have no doubt that JPS’ experience will be very similar to ours.”
