Inmate dies after being shot during escape bid

The Department of Correctional Services says about 12:10 p.m. an inmate who attempted to escape from the St. Catherine Adult Correctional Centre was shot by a Correctional Officer.
The inmate was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The DCS says the inmate’s name will be released as soon as his family is informed.
Investigations are being carried out by the Police and Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM.
