The students were hosted to a handover luncheon at the boardroom of the Pan-Jamaican Investment Trust Limited (Pan-Jam) in Kingston on Wednesday, October 26, 2016.

They are: second-year Master's students of the Caribbean School of Architecture at the University of Technology Jamaica Lionel Spence, Richard Josephs, Matthew MacFarlane, and Michael McFarlane; and Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts fine arts major Lydia Denny and Education major Shaniek Barclay.

The group, of recipients and teachers, was guided through a tour of the art collection on the two floors of Pan-Jam offices by the Miriam Hinds-Smith, acting director of the School of Visual Arts at the Edna Manley College, and the first Edna Manley College recipient of the scholarship from CBFF, the charitable arm of the Pan-Jam.

They were able to see works from Barrington Watson, J.B. Kidd, Edna Manley, Colin Garland, Richard Montgomery, Mallica ‘Kapa’ Reynolds, Laura Facey, and George Rodney interspersed among the work spaces.

Stephen Facey, chairman of the C.B. Facey Foundation and chairman and CEO of Pan-Jam, greeted the students and their teachers after the group watched the company’s reflective documentary Strong Legacy Powerful Future.

The 22-minute documentary was commissioned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the private equity company highlights the formation of Pan-Jam; the key shapers of the revolutionary conglomerate; and its rationale for giving back.

Facey encouraged the students seize this opportunity to operate your studies with integrity; appreciating the blessing you have been bestowed.

“Today, the Foundation has placed within your grasp the tools to improve yourself, your family, and this nation,” Facey said.
