The musical package is a part of cultural series to commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations between Spain and Jamaica while also observing ten years since the establishment of The Spanish-Jamaican Foundation.
 

“I am always amazed at the benefits that can arise from cultural exchanges and from the promotion of diversity,” stated Carmen Rives Ruiz-Tapiador, Chargée d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Spain.  “This quartet based now in Barcelona is a great example. As their twitter account has it @Las_Migas they are Four different visions, four different origins (Sevilla, Córdoba, Barcelona y Lérida), with one passion: Flamenco, and one goal: the constant search for beauty and authenticity,” concluded Ruiz-Tapiador.
 

Las Migas’ music is mainly Flamenco, but they have all been influenced, following their open spirit and their willingness to be creative, by others rhythms perceived in their songs: from folk and jazz, to Latin music in general and Cuban in particular.
 

Their new work, about to be released on November 11th is called “Vente conmigo” (“Come with me”).  Their new single “Calm” refers to the calm needed to be you again, after being lost, in order to be able to take off once more, and keep calm…
 

“I really hope their Jamaican experience offers them the needed energy to give their true selves in Kingston and Mobay, before they take off again to Cuba, keeping themselves calm and real… Jamaica, no problem, Las Migas soon come!” declared Ruiz-Tapiador.
