The Hanover Municipal Corporation invites applications from suitable qualified candidates to fill the following Vacant position: ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT ROADS AND WORKS (SOG/ST 4) Salary range: $2,190,302 - $2,945,712 per annum Job Summary / Key Responsibilities Under the direction of the Superintendent Roads and Works, the Assistant Superintendent Buildings is responsible for the planning, execution, and finalization of work programmes for the Municipal Corporation in accordance with the relevant policies and guidelines governing its operations. KEY OUTPUTS 1. Implementation of work programmes as required by the Municipal Corporation. 2. Preparation of estimates and project costing. 3. Supervision of the execution of projects. 4. Providing technical advice at Committee Meetings. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 1. Plan, execute and finalize projects according to the scope. 2. Supervise Works Overseers in the implementation of work programmes. 3. Preparation of estimates and project costing. 4. Allocating and inspecting works on roads, parks, and cemeteries 5. Inspecting buildings from time to time during the period of construction to ensure that foundation works are properly laid out. 6. Inspecting sub-division to ensure that all infrastructure works are in place. 7. Investigating complaints made by the public relating to the Roads & Works and Minor Water Supplies Department 8. Supervising repair works at the Infirmary. 9. Making decisions relating to water supplies, roads, and buildings 10. Inspecting flood damage from time to time 11. Preparing estimates for flood damage roads and water supplies 12. Ensure the enforcement of the building regulation, Local Improvement Act and other Acts. 13. Preparing monthly reports on buildings roads and water supplies 14. Attending Committee meetings as required to provide technical advice. PERFORMANCE CRITERIA · Providing the highest level of technical support within the Roads and Works Department. · The completion of assigned tasks with accuracy and within a specified timeframe. · Key deliverables are produced within agreed scheduled time and to the required standard. · Strict adherence to the rules and regulations of the Corporation. KEY COMPETENCIES · Thorough understanding of the relevant Municipal engineering issue, legislations relating to parochial infrastructure, current developments and best practice in relation to civil works and safety practices. · Good knowledge of the preparation of estimates. · Experience in assessing value or evaluating variations of construction works. · Knowledge of the Building Act of the Local Authorities, Town and Country Planning Act, Local Improvement Act and all other acts and regulations governing the administration of the Roads and Works Department. · Good communication skills. · Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
