As the Income Tax Filing due date draws closer Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ)
continues to assist hundreds of business persons to file their final Income Tax Returns for
Taxpayers getting support to meet the March 15 Income Tax Filing due
date at a recent Special Taxpayer Assistance Programme (STAP)
session at the Kingston Revenue Service Centre recently
2018 as well as their Estimated Returns for 2019 before the March 15 deadline now one
month away. Through its Special Taxpayer Assistance Programme (STAP), business persons
and self-employed individuals island wide have been making use of the free tax support
sessions such as that staged by the Kingston Revenue Service Centre recently, where
approximately 30 taxpayers were given free assistance to file their Returns and get
registered for TAJ online services.
Business persons and self-employed individuals can make use of these special tax support
sessions, by taking along their income and expenditure statements, valid identification and
their Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN), where TAJ personnel will help them to file their
Returns ahead of the usual March 15 Tax Office rush. A schedule of the STAP activities is
available at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm for their convenience.
Additionally, the public is reminded Corporate Income Tax (CIT) and Assets Tax Returns
MUST be filed online as of this tax season, via TAJ’s online portal at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm
on or before the March 15 due date. This means corporate bodies, organizations such as
Partnerships, Trusts, Estates, Building Societies, Life Assurances as well as registered
Charities, must now file their Income Tax Returns and supporting documents online.
Similarly, all companies required to make Assets Tax Declarations (AT01, AT02) must also do
so electronically.
Companies, Partnerships, Other Bodies, Self-employed Individuals, Persons with multiple
employment and employed persons with other sources of income are advised to ensure
that they use the correct form related to their type of business/activity, for the
corresponding tax year to ensure that the Returns are filed accurately.
