Becoming my own boss

I have been considering becoming my own boss for a long time now. After reading your article I became even more intrigued. I have many ideas, but when I go over them in my head I come up with road blocks. The great thing is my family is very supportive and I have decided that I would try I pay no rent and plan to start the business from home which is in Runaway Bay, St. Ann
I have recently completed a bachelors degree in accounting, not because I love figures but because it is one of the most challenging degrees in business and I believe it afforded me the opportunity to learn a great deal about the "back bone" of any business.
After all that, I would love some advice on how to make becoming my own boss a reality. I am interested in the field of cosmetology, especially aesthetics, hair and nail care, and would be willing to be trained in these areas. However, I very am very open to new ideas.

Dear MC

Becoming an entrepreneur is a very exciting but not necessarily easy road. You have to be disciplined, tough, resilient, tenacious, brave, innovative, dynamic, resourceful, passionate, persistent, very determined and have lots of courage and energy.

If you believe that those adjectives describe you, then you have a great chance of making it in your own.
Your background in accounting will be a great asset in your venture. You may even use it as a source of income while you develop and build your business simultaneously. Don't be fooled, you will need such income as your business will not be up and running immediately and you will need to live on something even while at home.
I would recommend that you document all of your ideas and look at them one by one in order to determine which offers the best opportunity for success right now. Market research is a good investment which is never a waste of time as it will help you to move in the right direction. If you cannot even afford to get this done formally by a company, you can do your own informally amongst neighbours, family, friends and in your community. Your interest in cosmetology could be a winner, especially if you develop good skills in the area. However, do your research.
I wish you all the best and hope that you come up with the right business venture. Keep me up-to-date on your progress.
